Demos

Digital media opens up thrilling possibilities to combine visual design, writing and interactivity techniques.

Photoshop

to Cards - Photoshop collageAdobe Photoshop is a basic tool for image editing which I use frequently. aRTO teacher Teemu Helo guided us through the secrets of picture manipulation from the beginning of the course. Take a look at an example at making a Photoshop collage.

PHP

What's your age on another planet? PHP is a popular server side scripting language. While studying at Arcada I wanted to make a demo that is not too serious, althought behind the scenes there are many things not visible to eye, like admin panel and security measures. So, check your age on another planets!
Update:Language support and some other features added at 2011.

Flash Animations

Go to my Flash pageNew alternatives for interactive animations are emerging, but Flash will probably hold on for a while. Vector based films are also well compressed: for example the intro to my House of Multimedia has sounds and scales to fit any window size, but the file size is only 26 KB.

Please check my Flash Design page!

HTML + CSS

Simple One Page Site shows a most simple way to make small "site" from just one page with anchor links, html and css. Same principle is commonly used and extended in tabs and content sliders.

HTML+TIME

"Impressions" is a multimedia presentation utilising HTML+TIME technology, a Microsoft implementation of SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language). Works in Internet Explorer 6 (or newer) only.

5k Pages

See how fast my 5k Page downloads!
Or even smaller: Groovy Q page for Internet Explorer 6.
Or still even smaller: homepage of www.lahteenaro.net (less than 3k!).
Or still smaller and smaller: See how a JavaScript Mondrian makes a new abstract painting every 6 seconds (about 2k)
Or... the End of the Internet (less than 1k).
Finnish folks may end to internetin päätepiste.

3D + Flash

A frame from Otokryptis 3D movieIn aRTO we had a chance to make several interesting 3 D exercises with the 3D Max program, one of which was a short film I made about a robot, Otokryptis. Original 3D movie was made in 3D Max, and final outcome was edited in Ulead Media Studio Pro and Adobe Photoshop before embedding into "Flash Theatre". Step into the theatre and watch Otokryptis and the Golden Globe (Flash, 109 K, duration 33s.).

What is now proved was once, only imagin'd.
